Tajweed & Advanced Recitation Course Online
You can read the Quran. You know the letters, you can follow the lines, and you may have completed it more than once. Yet when you listen to a skilled reciter, you notice the difference: letters that sound sharper, a nasal sound held for exactly the right length, a rhythm that never stumbles. Reading the words and reciting them correctly are two separate skills.
The Tajweed & Advanced Recitation course at Latifia Quran Online is built for that second skill. It is for learners who already read Quranic Arabic and now want to pronounce each letter from its proper point of articulation (Makharij), apply the rules of Tajweed as they recite, and gain the fluency and confidence that come from regular, corrected practice.
Classes are live and led by qualified teachers who listen to you recite and correct mistakes as they happen. Because everything takes place online, students join from home in any country, at times that fit around school, work and family.
What Is the Tajweed & Advanced Recitation Course?
Tajweed is the set of rules for reciting the Quran correctly. The word comes from an Arabic root meaning "to improve" or "to do well". In practice, it means giving every letter its due: the right point of articulation, the right characteristics, and the right length or nasal sound wherever a rule applies.
These rules matter because Arabic has several letters that sound close to one another. Pronouncing one in place of another can change the meaning of a word, so careful recitation is about accuracy as much as beauty.
This course takes students from basic Quran reading to accurate, confident recitation in three connected stages. First, the teacher explains a rule in plain language. Next, students find and practise that rule in actual verses. Finally, each student recites to the teacher and is corrected until the rule becomes habit.
The aim is not to memorise terminology. It is to recite a page of the Quran and apply the rules without stopping to think about them.
What Will You Learn in This Tajweed Course?
The syllabus follows the order in which most students need the rules: letters first, then the rules that connect them, then extended recitation.
Makharij and Sifatul Huruf
Every Arabic letter is produced from a specific place in the throat, tongue, lips or nasal passage. These places are the Makharij. You will learn where each letter starts, and your teacher will listen for the ones that tend to slip, such as ق (Qaf) drifting towards ك (Kaf), or ح (Haa) sounding like ه (Ha).
Sifatul Huruf are the qualities that give a letter its character: heavy or light, strong or soft, whispered or voiced. They explain why ص (Saad) and س (Seen) come from the same place yet sound clearly different. Getting these two areas right corrects most everyday pronunciation errors.
Noon Sakin and Tanween
A Noon without a vowel, and the "n" sound at the end of Tanween, are pronounced in four different ways depending on the letter that follows. Sometimes the Noon is said clearly (Izhar). At other times it merges, changes, or is partly hidden.
Because this situation appears on almost every line of the Quran, this is where many students hear the biggest change in their recitation.
Ikhfa, Idgham and Iqlab
These are the three rules that alter the Noon sound, and each gets its own practice time.
- Ikhfa: the Noon is softened and held with a nasal sound, somewhere between clear and merged. It applies before fifteen letters.
- Idgham: the Noon merges into the next letter, with a nasal sound for some letters and without it for others.
- Iqlab: before the letter ب (Ba), the Noon is pronounced as a Meem.
You will learn to spot each one on sight, so the correct sound comes before you have time to hesitate.
Meem Sakin
A Meem without a vowel has three rules of its own. It is hidden lightly before ب (Ba), merged into a following Meem, and pronounced clearly before every other letter. The set is short, but it is often overlooked by students who learnt to read without formal Tajweed.
Qalqalah and Ghunnah
Qalqalah is the slight bounce heard on five letters (ق ط ب ج د) when they carry no vowel. It keeps those letters clear instead of swallowed, particularly at the end of a verse.
Ghunnah is the nasal sound that belongs to Noon and Meem. You will learn where it is required and how long to hold it, which gives recitation its steady, measured rhythm.
Practical Quran Recitation
Rules only stay with you when you use them. A large part of every lesson is spent reciting: short passages at first, then longer ones, with the teacher stopping you when a rule is missed and asking you to repeat it correctly.
Over time the corrections become fewer, your pace steadies, and you begin to catch your own mistakes.
Who Is This Tajweed Course For?
This course suits anyone who can already read the Quran in Arabic and wants to recite it more accurately. That includes:
- Children aged 10 and above who have finished basic Quran reading
- Teenagers who want to strengthen their recitation alongside school
- Adults returning to the Quran after a long gap, or studying Tajweed formally for the first time
- Learners who know they mispronounce certain letters and want them corrected
- Students who read accurately but slowly and want better fluency
- Learners preparing to begin Hifz
- Muslims living anywhere in the world, including areas with no local Tajweed teacher
Many adults feel uneasy about being corrected, especially after reading the same way for years. That is normal, and it is one reason online Quran classes for adults work well: you learn from home, at your own level, without an audience.
Not yet reading Arabic? This course assumes you can already read Quranic text. If you or your child are still learning the letters and how they join, please start with the Noorani Qaida & Quran Reading Program. It builds the reading foundation that Tajweed depends on, and students move on to this course once it is complete.
Learn Tajweed Online From Anywhere in the World
A good Tajweed teacher is not always close by. In many towns the nearest class is a long drive away, runs at one fixed time, or is aimed only at young children.
Learning online removes those limits. Our students join from the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and elsewhere. All they need is a phone, tablet or computer, a stable internet connection, and a quiet place to recite.
Lesson times are arranged around your time zone, so a student in London and a student in Sydney can both find a slot that suits their day. Families in North America can read more about how this works in our guide to learn Quran online with Tajweed in the USA.
What stays the same wherever you are is the teaching itself: a live lesson, a teacher who hears your recitation, and correction given on the spot.
How Our Online Tajweed Classes Work
The routine is simple, and it stays the same from the first week to the last.
- Choose a suitable schedule. Tell us your time zone and the days that work for you, and we will match you with a class time.
- Join live online classes. You log in from home at the agreed time. Your teacher is there in real time, not on a recording.
- Learn the Tajweed rule for that lesson. Each session introduces or revises one rule, explained with examples before any recitation begins.
- Practise it in Quranic verses. You look for the rule in real passages and read them slowly until the pattern is familiar.
- Recite directly to the teacher. Every student recites aloud. This is the core of the lesson.
- Receive pronunciation corrections. The teacher stops you where a letter or rule is off, demonstrates the correct sound, and has you repeat it.
- Take regular assessments. Short checks at intervals show which rules have settled and which need more practice.
- Track your progress. You and your teacher can see what has been covered, what has improved, and what comes next.
Between lessons, a few minutes of daily recitation makes a noticeable difference. Your teacher will tell you what to practise.
Why Choose Latifia Quran Online for Tajweed?
Tajweed cannot be learnt from a book alone. It needs a teacher who listens. Our course is organised around that principle.
Qualified Tajweed teachers
Lessons are taught by teachers trained in Tajweed and experienced in correcting recitation. Where applicable, teachers hold Ijazah in Quran recitation.
Live lessons only
Every class happens in real time, so questions are answered and mistakes are corrected as they arise.
Correction of your own recitation
You are not just shown the rule. You recite, and the teacher works on the specific sounds you find difficult.
A structured curriculum
Topics follow a set order, each one building on the last, so nothing is skipped or rushed.
Small groups
Class sizes are kept small so that every student recites and receives feedback in each lesson.
Flexible scheduling
Class times are arranged to suit different time zones and routines.
Regular assessments
Periodic checks keep students, parents and teachers clear about progress.
Open to students worldwide
Enrolment is not limited by country.
Certificate on completion
Students who complete the course successfully receive a certificate from Latifia Quran Online.
Benefits of Learning Tajweed
Students usually notice the effects of Tajweed study in stages.
Clearer pronunciation
Letters that used to sound alike become distinct, and your articulation of the harder Arabic sounds improves.
Rules you can apply, not just name
You move from knowing that a rule exists to using it automatically while reciting.
Old mistakes corrected
Errors repeated for years are difficult to hear in yourself. A teacher identifies them and helps you replace them with the correct sound.
Smoother recitation
As hesitation drops, your reading becomes more even and measured.
More confidence
Reciting in prayer, in front of family, or when helping your children with their own reading becomes easier when you trust your pronunciation.
A base for further study
Sound Tajweed is expected before Hifz and other advanced Quran studies. Memorising with correct pronunciation from the start saves the far harder task of correcting it later.
A steady habit
Fixed lesson times and short daily practice build a routine of recitation that tends to continue after the course ends.
Students who would like to memorise everyday supplications alongside their recitation can also look at our Dua and Durood Memorization Course.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tajweed & Advanced Recitation
What is a Tajweed and Advanced Recitation course?
A Tajweed and Advanced Recitation course teaches students who can already read the Quran how to recite it correctly. It covers the articulation of each letter, the main Tajweed rules, and guided recitation practice with a teacher's correction.
Can I learn Tajweed online from home?
Yes, Tajweed can be learnt effectively online from home. In a live class the teacher hears your recitation clearly and corrects it straight away, just as in a face-to-face lesson. You need a device, a stable internet connection and a quiet space.
Who can join the Tajweed & Advanced Recitation course?
The course is open to children aged 10 and above, teenagers and adults who can already read the Quran in Arabic. It suits learners who want to correct their pronunciation, improve fluency or prepare for Hifz.
Do I need to know Quran reading before learning Tajweed?
Yes, you should be able to read Quranic Arabic before starting this course. Tajweed refines how you pronounce what you read, so reading comes first. Beginners should start with the Noorani Qaida & Quran Reading Program.
What are Makharij and Sifatul Huruf?
Makharij are the points in the mouth, throat and nasal passage where each Arabic letter is produced. Sifatul Huruf are the characteristics of each letter, such as heaviness or softness. Together they determine how a letter should sound.
Are the Tajweed classes live or pre-recorded?
