Online Noorani Qaida Classes for Beginners
Noorani Qaida is where correct Quran reading begins. In our live online classes, learners recognise the Arabic letters, practise each sound from its correct point of articulation, read the short vowels and other reading marks, and join letters into words — then move straight into reading from the Quran with a teacher listening and correcting every step.
The programme is open to children aged eight and above, teenagers and adults, whether you are starting from the very first letter or correcting pronunciation habits you already have.
- Live, teacher-led online classes
- Ages 8 and above
- Group or one-to-one options
- Four-month structured course
What Is Noorani Qaida?
Noorani Qaida is a step-by-step primer that teaches beginners to read Arabic script as it appears in the Quran. Each lesson builds on the one before, so learners never meet a reading rule before they are ready for it.
The word qaida means a base or foundation. In practice, the Qaida takes a learner from single letters to fully vowelled words: first recognising each letter and its shape, then hearing and producing its sound, then reading letters with vowel marks, and finally joining them into the kind of words found in the Quran.
Because it focuses on accurate sounds from the start, the Qaida is the usual first step before reading the Quran itself, and before deeper study of Tajweed or memorisation. For a parent-friendly overview, read our guide on how to learn Noorani Qaida in English.
- Letter recognitionThe Arabic alphabet and how each letter changes shape at the start, middle and end of a word.
- Letter soundsProducing each letter from its correct articulation point (Makharij al-Huruf).
- Vowels & reading marksHarakat, Tanween, Sukoon, Shaddah and Madd — the marks that tell you how a word is read.
- Joining & readingCombining letters into syllables and words, then reading directly from the Quran.
What You Will Learn in Our Noorani Qaida Course
The course follows the Noorani Qaida lesson by lesson and finishes with guided reading from the Quran. These are the five areas every student works through.
Arabic Letters and Their Forms
Recognising all the letters of the Arabic alphabet, individually and in their joined forms, so that words on the page become readable rather than unfamiliar shapes.
Correct Pronunciation (Makharij)
Training each letter from its correct point of origin in the throat, tongue or lips. Particular care goes into letters that have no close equivalent in English.
Harakat, Tanween, Sukoon and Shaddah
Reading the short vowels — Fathah, Kasrah and Dammah — along with Tanween (double vowels), Sukoon (no vowel) and Shaddah (a doubled letter).
Madd and Waqf
An introduction to Madd, which tells you how long to stretch a sound, and Waqf, which governs where and how to pause while reading.
Joining Letters into Words
Combining letters with their vowel marks into syllables and then full words, building the decoding skill that independent reading depends on.
Direct Quran Reading Practice
Moving from the Qaida into selected passages of the Quran, applying every skill in real Quranic text while the teacher corrects in real time.
Learn Noorani Qaida with Tajweed
Reading Arabic and reciting with Tajweed are related but different skills. This course teaches the first and lays the groundwork for the second.
Basic Arabic reading
Knowing which letter is which, what sound each vowel mark makes and how letters join. This is decoding — the ability to look at a word and read it correctly.
Applying Tajweed
The rules that govern how the Quran is recited: how letters are articulated, how long sounds are held, where to pause, and how neighbouring sounds affect each other.
In our Noorani Qaida classes, the foundations of Tajweed — correct Makharij, the reading marks and basic Madd — are taught within every lesson rather than left for later. That means learners build correct habits from the first letter instead of having to unlearn mistakes.
This is a beginner programme, not an advanced Tajweed course. Students who want a detailed, rule-by-rule study can continue to our Tajweed & Advanced Recitation programme after completing the Qaida. You can also download our introductory Tajweed book, Prathomik Tajweed, from the library.
Online Noorani Qaida Classes for Kids and Adults
For parents of children aged 8+
Children learn in live sessions where the teacher hears them read and corrects pronunciation straight away — something a recorded lesson or app cannot do. Before enrolment, each student is assessed so lessons start at the right point.
Progress is reviewed with regular assessments every two to three weeks, so you can see how your child is moving through the Qaida and towards reading the Quran.
For adult beginners and reverts
It is never too late to learn. Adults join the same structured course, whether they have never read Arabic before or learned informally as children and want to correct their pronunciation.
Learners aged 18 and above who prefer a course built entirely around adult schedules can also consider our Adult Quran Learning Program.

Frequently Asked Questions About Noorani Qaida
What is Noorani Qaida?
Noorani Qaida is a beginner's primer for reading the Quran. It teaches the Arabic letters, their correct sounds, the vowel and reading marks, and how to join letters into words, in a sequence that prepares learners to read directly from the Quran.
Can beginners learn Noorani Qaida online?
Yes. The course starts from the first lesson of the Qaida, so no prior knowledge of Arabic is needed. Classes are live, which means the teacher can hear the student and correct pronunciation in real time, just as in a face-to-face lesson.
Can adults learn Noorani Qaida?
Yes. The programme is open to all learners aged eight and above, including adults learning to read the Quran for the first time and those correcting pronunciation habits. Adults aged 18+ can also choose our dedicated Adult Quran Learning Program.
How long does it take to learn Noorani Qaida?
Our programme is structured over four months, but every learner's pace is different. Progress depends on the starting level, how many classes are taken each week, attendance and practice between lessons. Regular assessments help the teacher set the right pace rather than rushing ahead.
Can Noorani Qaida help me read the Quran?
Yes — that is its purpose. The Qaida builds the letter recognition, pronunciation and reading-mark knowledge needed to read Quranic text. Our course finishes with guided reading from the Quran so students apply those skills to real verses.
Is Noorani Qaida with Tajweed suitable for beginners?
Yes. The foundations of Tajweed — correct Makharij, the reading marks and basic Madd — are taught within the Qaida lessons, so beginners learn correct sounds from the start. Detailed Tajweed rules are covered in our separate Tajweed programme.
What is the difference between Noorani Qaida and Quran reading?
Noorani Qaida is the preparation; Quran reading is the goal. The Qaida teaches the building blocks — letters, sounds and marks — using simple practice words. Quran reading applies those skills to the text of the Quran itself, which is where students move once the Qaida is complete.
What is included in an online Noorani Qaida course?
Our course covers Arabic letter recognition, Makharij, Harakat, Tanween, Sukoon and Shaddah, an introduction to Madd and Waqf, joining letters, and direct Quran reading practice. Classes are live with real-time correction, and students are assessed regularly.
How many classes should I take each week?
Packages range from two to five days a week, with each class lasting one hour plus 15 free minutes. Two or three days suit most beginners and younger children building a routine; four or five days give more practice for learners who want to progress faster. If you are unsure, contact us and we will help you choose.
How can I enrol in Noorani Qaida classes?
Choose a package and complete the online registration form. The academy will arrange a short assessment, agree your class schedule and confirm payment, which is made in advance before classes begin.
